Residential & House Movers in Glen Rose | Joe Powell House Movers

Whole-home moves crewed by our own people, from an old rock house by the square to a six-bedroom on acreage

Clearing a whole home is a different animal than relocating a bedroom or den, and we put the right number of bodies on it. A typical place out here hides a garage loaded with tools and feed buckets, a closet that holds far more than it looks, and a kitchen everyone keeps avoiding. Joe and his crew have worked through a decade of these jobs since 2014, so we send a big enough team to wrap the whole house in one go and keep it from spilling over to a second day.

The trucks arrive stocked with quilts, hanging cartons for the closets, and plenty of muscle. Beds come apart and go back together, the fridge and washer get disconnected and sealed in bags, and the heavyweights, your sectionals, hutches, gun safes, even the treadmill, ride strapped to four-wheelers so no one strains a back and no baseboard gets gouged. Every item gets quilted right where it stands, in its own room, well before it makes its way out to the truck.

No two homes around the county play the same. A two-story on acreage near Walnut Springs handles nothing like an old rock house by the square where a dresser barely turns the hall corner, and a lake place at Granbury with a steep deck is its own puzzle. We walk the whole job before move day, lay floor runners and pad the door casings at both stops, and when summer bears down we move the heaviest carries into the cooler early hours to keep the crew quick and sharp.

“Mostly great. The crew showed up on time for our 3-bed out by the lake in Granbury and worked hard in the heat. One nightstand got a gouge against the door frame, but Joe's office called me back the next morning, sent a guy to fix it, and knocked a little off the bill without me even pushing. That kind of follow-through is why I'd still use them.”

“Moved our lake house on Granbury and these guys were careful on those steep steps down to the water. Quote didn't budge a dollar. Solid.”

“Joe came out himself to look at our 2-bed in Cleburne before quoting, which I didn't expect. The number he wrote down was exactly what we paid at the end. No add-ons, no clock games. The two movers were polite and fast and had it all loaded before lunch. Couldn't ask for better.”

Service FAQ

How many movers turn up for a house?

It rides on the size of the home and how full it is, though we always crew it to wrap inside one day. A three-bedroom generally calls for three or four hands; larger homes get a bigger team, so you are not paying out for a slow start.

Will you disconnect the washer and the refrigerator?

Yes. An ordinary fridge, washer, or dryer gets unhooked and bagged during the move. When natural gas or a hardwired hookup is in the picture, we point it out ahead of time and let a licensed tech break that connection before we load the unit.

How do you keep my walls and floors free of marks?

Protective runners go down over wood and tile, the casings and the stair rail get padded, and the soft furniture is shrink-wrapped. Looking after the home rides inside the quoted price, never an extra at the foot of the invoice.

Can you reach a place at the end of a gravel lane or up a steep lake deck?

No problem. Long caliche lanes out in the county and steep decks at the lake are routine for us. We size up the approach beforehand, bring the proper rig, and when a piece truly will not make a corner we find a way out through a slider or some other opening.

What happens if a spring storm kicks up on moving day?

Weather out here turns quick in spring, with hail or a hard squall line stacking up toward afternoon. The radar stays on and your things stay out of the wet, and should a genuine safety hazard roll in, we will reset the date with you instead of putting the crew under lightning and hail.
